What is PHP?

PHP is an open-source, HTML-embedded scripting language designed specifically for web developers who wish to generate dynamic HTML pages. Much of its syntax is borrowed from C, Java and Perl with a couple of unique PHP-specific features thrown in.

Generally speaking, PHP is considerably faster than ASP and more well suited to serving web pages than Perl.
